Flat warts

Flat or juvenile warts are skin growths of a viral nature, characteristic of children and adolescents. Their appearance is due to a failure of the immune system at a young age and its inability to resist certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). The disease is caused by HPV types 3, 5 and 10. Viruses of this type are quite common in nature and are transmitted through direct contact, mainly in groups of children. The disease only occurs with a breakdown of the immune system and over time, warts can disappear on their own.

Reasons

The appearance of flat warts is due to the introduction of human papillomavirus types 3, 5 and 10 into the skin. The papillomavirus penetrates small cracks and fissures in the skin and infects keratinocytes. It changes the DNA of cells and they begin to produce collagen eagerly, causing the growth of the stratum corneum and warts.

The virus is transmitted by direct contact with infected people, children develop mainly through contact with other children in kindergarten or school, but adult carriers who have no signs of the disease can also be the source of the virus. Warts spread around the body during scratching or shaving.

Symptoms

In case of infection with the virus, flat, round or oval nodules up to 3 mm in diameter appear on the skin. Papules can merge with each other to form polygonal eruptions. Often, mother warts first form, which later appear to smaller daughters. When scratched, the papules grow linearly due to the spread of the virus towards the comb. The nodule can be one or many - it depends on the level of endurance. In color, the formations do not differ from healthy skin, but sometimes they turn yellowish or brown.

The surface of the rash is smooth and does not cause itching, pain or burning. Papules are localized mainly on the skin of the hands or on the face - the places where the first contact with a viral particle is. Although they can spread to other surfaces: the forearms, the mucous membranes of the mouth or the red rim of the lips.

Analysis

It is enough to evaluate a specific clinical picture and perform an examination. Rarely use to identify the virus by polymerase chain reaction.

With a large number of warts and ineffective treatment, a complete examination of the patient's body and the patient's immune status is performed. A common process usually indicates more serious health problems.

How to get rid of flat warts?

  1. Strengthen the immune system with an anthelmintic.
  2. Keratolytic and antiviral drugs are also used: 5% salicylic-resorcinol ointment, oxolinic ointment, ointment or cream with interferon alfa-2, 10% silver nitrate solution. Silver nitrate is not recommended to remove flat warts on the face.
  3. In rare cases, freezing treatment and laser removal are used.

When warts appear in children, the pictures are simply monitored in most cases due to the high probability of self-healing.

Treatment with folk medicine

There are many effective methods to treat warts with folk remedies. They are based on the use of plants and substances with keratolytic properties:

  1. Celandine. The juice from the stems of this plant helps to dissolve the top layer of warts. The nodules are lubricated with celandine juice several times a day until complete recovery.
  2. Potatoes. The rice from the top layer of the potato (just under the skin) is applied to the wart and covered with a bandage on top. Allow the compressor to stand overnight. The operation should be performed every other day until the papules disappear.
  3. Edik. Once a day, table vinegar is lubricated with the surface of the skin area that is formed until it is completely healed.
  4. Kalanchoe. Gruel from Kalanchoe leaves is applied to a papule, bandage or gauze napkin is placed on top. Let the compressor stand for a few hours. The operation must be performed daily.

Forecast and consequences

The outlook for infant warts is favorable. Formations do not undergo malignancy and disappear quickly with normal immunity.

To avoid their appearance, you need to wash your baby's hands thoroughly after visiting public places and treat colds and other illnesses that reduce immunity in time.
